Colorful Baby Blocks

This is an overview of the Wooden Small Feet Block Set, although the other sets listed here are very similar. This is a fairly simple set of wooden blocks. and plastic contour elements with rib-like projections on the sides. The gnarled pieces interlock freely, and pushing together is something most babies over 12 months can do. For most blocks of wood, you can also insert them into appropriately shaped node outlines. He teaches children to combine circles, squares, rectangles, triangles and trapezoids. The wooden pieces are colorful and many of them have farm animal themes, allowing you to build a cow with a rectangular body and trapezoidal head. One of the best parts of the set is the bucket that comes with it. The bucket is quite roomy (and can probably hold 60+ blocks if you have an extra set) and the lid has cutouts to help your child learn to match shapes. The set is pretty good. but not optimal. First, there is no trapezoid cutout in the bucket lid, so your child can only put the trapezoid through the square hole. In terms of teaching shapes, I think it would be better to ditch the domed lid cutout and replace it with a trapezoidal cutout. The other problem is that there are only 2 big "base" nodes to build on. I think for a set with that many blocks it would make a lot more sense to have 4 base nodes so a slightly older child (30+ months old) could actually build an entire farm. Finally, it's probably obvious, but with stackable blocks of wood it's almost impossible to build structures on a carpeted floor. Your little one will want to sit at a table or on a hard floor. This bucket has a nice set with lots of creative options, I just wish it had more basic items.
