I wanted something more elegant in search of Christmas decorations. Having candles that could stick to the window (instead of resting on the sash) was ideal, and the remote timer function looked nice. We do that anyway and it replaces the old ones that automatically started a timer when you closed the battery door. First, as many others have pointed out, suction cups are bad. However, this is fixable - soak them in hot water. The plastic becomes considerably softer and regains its "correct" shape. It also helps to install them slightly damp, which helps create a better vacuum seal. This is uncomfortable but necessary. Most (not all) timers are good. They do what I want - turn on right after dark (when I start the timer) and start up around the same time the next day. I will say that there is some "drift", especially when the batteries are getting low. I don't know why that is, but don't be surprised if you put different batteries in different candles and they don't work the same way in terms of the timer. It could be cheap electronics (there's very little room for a timer), it could be a battery, but that's something to be aware of. All in all they are very good for the price. Nice selection of Christmas ornaments. I don't see the point of using them internally for "regular" jewelry as they use up batteries too often. But within a month or so they will work.
