Ok I'll start by saying that I really like this shelf. BUT it is not inherently safe. You need to add an extra spacer at the top to attach it to the wall. Hence the 4 stars. Otherwise I would give 5. The only supports are the 2 small brackets below. So nothing prevents him from leaning forward under pressure. In the pictures you can see 2 braces below and one I added in the top center behind a small wire shelf for extra support. Again, I definitely recommend adding another brace for support. Except for this small blemish, the shelf is great! (I think) it's real wood, not pressed chipboard, it's very strong. The baskets are durable and very cute, with a rustic metal finish. Exactly what I was looking for for our small breakfast area. It has pre-drilled holes and is very easy to assemble. I would definitely buy it again.
