Better than OEM - or not. (UPDATED)

UPDATE: I installed this about seven months ago and now the red fan of the two makes the same horrible rattle/scratch as the OEM fan and sometimes stops completely. The MSI GS65 Stealth Thin, which is less than a year old, makes terrible grinding noises when playing games. Apparently this is a general problem. I received this fan and CPU version of the same brand in two days. Disassembling MSI laptops can be an intimidating process, but it's not that big of a deal. I did it in about 40 minutes with the help of some great YouTube videos. Even though I ordered thermal paste, I was able to replace both this GPU and the CPU fan without having to remove the cooling tubes and all. The "factory seal" is really the trickiest part as it looks like the very thin backing will buckle. Just go slow and easy. everything is pretty easy. I also took photos of the location of each screw on the motherboard as there are so many unused holes. However, I never mentioned them. Even with a flipped motherboard, replacing these fans is within the reach of almost anyone with the right tools and a video guide. You can find computer repair tool kits all over Revain for around $20. Get one with a flat plastic head/pick to avoid damaging the wifi connections and the various other clips that hold the wires. For me, this was a much better option than sending it in for three weeks, even if it's covered under warranty. . The fans are doing great so far.
