Doesn't fit GS65 Stealth 9SF (MS-16Q4 I think)

I really can't rate this product as it doesn't fit (more on that later). However the package was pretty good as it comes with tools etc (so not 3 stars but 4). A very nice touch considering people don't usually have Phillips that small. I have an MSI GS65 Stealth 9SF and according to online research it is MS-16Q4. Considering the variety of MSI laptops and the many different options (and there are no easy parts to look for), all the holes and shapes match up perfectly. Except for a small…

Pros
  • Many fit
Cons
  • Some difficulty

Ideal for CPU fan

Replacing the GPU fan with G65 is highly recommended. Same day delivery and perfect fit. The MSI G65 cleverly uses screws of the same size for the case and the mobile device, except for the WLAN card. Replacing the GPU fan can be accomplished without having to do more than loosen the bottom screws, loosen a few screws on the case, flip the module, replace the GPU fan, and reverse the process. Other recommended items: Heat-resistant tape, guitar pick (or plastic spatula), and patience.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Some small things

Inexpensive fans to repair my customer's computer

I matched the part number and replaced both fans. Easy to install and my client was happy that his computer repair wasn't insanely expensive.

Pros
  • Complete set
Cons
  • unreliable

Reliable Replacement Fan

Replacement Fan is good but not ideal for replacing the stock fan. The equipment is still decent. However, after installation, it became noticeably quieter than the CPU fan that was not replaced. Now the GS65 remains relatively quiet even under full load. Too bad the kit didn't include replaceable black tape covering the fan and exhaust fins. Definitely a solid piece, a solid value.

  • Multiple Competitors
Cons
  • Update Availability

Works Great - Innards

EDIT 3/23/20: Well as stated in my original review, the product worked great upon arrival. After about a week of fairly average use, one of the fans (the big, black one) started getting out of sync with its speed, making occasional grinding noises, and sometimes stopping completely, unable to move, until I removed the back of the fan. laptop and scroll it several times by hand. This will launch it again, but with the same inconsistent speeds and rattling noises. At the moment I am lowering my…

Works in CPU fans

So this part is compatible with MSI GS65 8RF (2018). Please note that the fan blades are thicker and the diameter of the fans are smaller than the original, which reduces the fan speed, reducing the RPM to 4.7K RPM and 6.7K RPM for the gray and red fans respectively. However, the temperature does not drop if you use the right thermal paste. The fans are also quieter. However, this does not apply to the CPU fan.

Pros
  • Useful for more than intended purpose
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Better than OEM - or not. (UPDATED)

UPDATE: I installed this about seven months ago and now the red fan of the two makes the same horrible rattle/scratch as the OEM fan and sometimes stops completely. The MSI GS65 Stealth Thin, which is less than a year old, makes terrible grinding noises when playing games. Apparently this is a general problem. I received this fan and CPU version of the same brand in two days. Disassembling MSI laptops can be an intimidating process, but it's not that big of a deal. I did it in about 40 minutes…

  • Acceptable

  • Glitches

It works, but at half the speed the normal fan was working at.

I just installed this fan because the GPU fan, like others, started to stall after a year of laptop ownership. Makes a horrible screeching noise and can't keep up speed while spinning. This replacement seems to be working well so far, except for the fact that it only revs up to 4,000 rpm. While the original fan was spinning at around 8,000 rpm. Not sure if this is a software thing or if the fan just isn't spinning as fast as the OEM.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Socket required

Better than the original

My fan started making noise after about a year, I bought it as a replacement and it's great, less noise than the original fan and my CPU and GPU temps are lower than before, it's a bit intimidating to replace since the motherboard is upside down, but it's actually very easy. Watch the YouTube tutorial (twice) before you start to make sure you haven't missed any cables. You don't have to peel off all the fan assemblies and reapply thermal paste, just for the fan itself there are 4-5 small screws

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Makes me angry
