Review on Rio Precision Trimmer Stainless Steel by Ryan Draper

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The blades barely touched

When I first opened the packaging the product appeared to be very well designed. I liked the length (the main reason I bought these and not any other aquarium scissors) and immediately set about cutting some leaves that I had been wanting to cut for a long time. As soon as I made my first cut the sheet just folded in half, it wasn't actually cut. I took a closer look at the scissors and noticed a very noticeable gap between the blades in the middle of the cutting edge when looking from the side. Enough to see a lot of light coming through, maybe 1 or 2mm. The extreme tips of the blades cut well, as did the rear (say, V-blades), but the middle portion was useless. Tip of the blade, not worth it. I returned them and decided to try the shorter Fluval scissors and see how they perform.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure
