Looks rustic and handcrafted, dark wood. No info on dark stains or oil finish or how to handle and care for it, just a label that says 'hand wash only'. Amazon's description says it's "food safe" but the packaging doesn't say anything. Mine arrived with a broken handle. Now I see that the neck of the handle is too small for the size of this board. It can break at this weak point, for example, in the event of a fall. The packing material consisted of a piece of brown paper wrapped around him, obviously not enough to protect him. Wood is lighter, not sure how well it holds up to actual use. It would be nice if it had a small leather thong or something in the hole to hang it up. I measure 18 1/2" x 7 3/8" (maximum lying at the edge). Made in India.
