Works. This allows you to use a modern computer to manage older X10 devices. The range isn't the greatest, so you'll need to plug your receiver into an outlet within a room or two of this unit. The software it was developed for is no longer supported and you can't use already registered software from an older Windows installation, but you can still use the full functionality - you just get an annoying screen when you try it to open. Fixing this would require a hack, which is not recommended for a number of reasons. This device offers you a good bridge to gradually replace your X10 devices with modern technology instead of replacing everything at once for hundreds/thousands of dollars.
