Great tool for finding heat leaks! Bought to find hot/cold spots in the house. The main motive was winter use to find out where the cold drafts come from, but since it's spring/summer I tested it to find the opposite. Walking through the house I found some window and door edges that could have been used for insulation to keep the air conditioning inside. Apparently also walked around the house, took the temperature of everything and everyone in sight as soon as I had it :) water cooler, freezer, refrigerator, gas stove, angry wife. all measured correctly. The laser point turned out to be more useful than I thought (didn't use it on the bad woman though). takes the guesswork out of where to measure. It was set to Celsius. which was an insult to the American in me. but this product has a key clearly marked "C/F". and one press makes it "F"! No guide is required to unlock the magic combination of key presses to get to "F". Backlit display. Ideal for reading in the dark. The laser can easily be turned on and off (useful for angry wives). Other useful features: Auto power off. and continuous reading when the trigger is held down. helps you find hotspots/oldspots by scanning while holding the trigger, 9V battery included! A few tips: The manual does not show how to open the battery compartment. Yes, those are the obvious grip notches you'll notice on the black cap around the trigger. it takes a little force to open. All this at a glance. I will update the review over time as needed.
