Review on πŸ”§ Shankly Compression Tester: Professional Grade for Domestic and Imported Cars, with 14mm/18mm Short Adapter and Flexible Adapters by Tony Cole

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Compression tester is a great way to check the lifespan of your engine.

. In case you didn't know, a compression tester is a great way to check the life of your engine, whether it's a lawn mower or a car. All I had to do was remove the spark plug, then stick a tester in the hole, then crank or start the engine and within seconds I had a reading. The compression tester comes with a quick connect hose extension and a pair of adapter fittings. Since the standard hose is quite short I think you'll all want to use an extension as I have for all my machines. The tester comes with a built-in pressure relief valve, which is good because it's easy to remove. The tester stopped the engine after measuring the compression. Nothing about this tester feels cheap. Rubber hoses are durable, as are brass fittings. The sensor itself has a nice protective rubber pad to keep it from getting damaged if kicked or hit. The front half of the sensor is made of glass, so I appreciate its durability. In terms of measurement accuracy, I tested 8 engines in my workshop and the readings I got are exactly what I expected for A, either a new engine or B, an old, worn engine. So this covers a wide range of engines, be it small engines, cars, trucks, RVs, boats, whatever. As for the tester's compressive strength, the seals are very strong, although oil is recommended on the threads to help them seal anyway. Until the engine itself lost compression, I found the tester kept the pressure gauge low until I reset it with the relief valve. This tester was very easy to use, I highly recommend it. I give it a solid 5 out of 5!
