Beautiful shotguns! I mean they are the same quality as the Rode video mic, 1/4 size and don't need a battery! As I've discovered, it's an electret mic, which means you'll need to plug it into a low-power outlet (NOT 48V, but not just a dead receiver either). What does that mean? Well, you can share it to your camcorder, phone, SLR camera, portable audio recorder and more. However, if you want to feed it into an unpowered mixer port, you'll get none of that. In my case I have a mixer with active connectors that can be turned on and off (it accepts everything from mini jack to XLR, so if I just plug it in, nothing. If I turn on the phantom power, NOTHING (and it could damage the mics , most would otherwise burn out, luckily this one had a safety circuit and was just shut down to electret level and now I've hooked up both short mics to multiple channels and you really can, you can't go wrong with this mic if you're after If you are looking for a short shotgun that performs at the premium budget level of early 200's shotguns for less than 1/4 the price for two then this is the right choice :D
