Want to live in a place like Long Island, NY and BE HEARD? This is the unit for you. The beep is nice and loud, but there are many other cool things about this device other than just the beep. Soooo much, and no you don't have to live here haha you want to be heard on the street in every city or state! In my opinion, it is also good for personal protection. It's small, it's full, it fits in the palm of my hand, and it seems to fit almost any bike. I know we haven't had any problems. Does it have a real LCD screen for this price? That's great! There are so many things you can do with this product including: - Track your entire ride (mileage) - You can be seen clearly in the dark, even in fog. - Signal lights on the right and left side. BONUS! - yes, to be heard. Good loud buzzer. As a bonus, there is a rear light. (More Visible) - Track your speed while driving. - The LCD screen even has a night light for dark rides. - There is a low battery reminder function. This is a plus! You want to charge well before departure. - Shows how many calories/fat have been burned during your bike ride. (A huge benefit for health gurus like me.) - It shows you the current outside temperature. - You can use the stopwatch function for a trip or for everything. I personally haven't used this feature, but it is when needed. I would say they are good for racing with others. Maybe I'm missing something, but those are most of the features and few of them justify the higher price. It's pretty grand, but still just a tiny little block. (Check out the pics from when I first did it to see the size better.) It might seem a bit complicated to some, I'm a girl, I ride both with my kids and by myself, and I'm getting used to most of the features. I would have found it a bit easier on the LCD but looking at the device itself the screen is quite large for such a small product. That would be a partial, small remark. I admit my eyes aren't perfect, but it's more about the distance. It didn't have perfect call temperature accuracy compared to the weather channel, but it wasn't significant as a few degrees won't affect your ride. and not disturb in any way. It says it's "waterproof" (NOT UNDERWATER, of course). But as for the rain, I still have to test that. It hasn't rained yet while skiing, but that's important for three reasons. 1) Many times in summer, sun rain and storms quickly overtook us. 2) In case your bike gets stuck in the rain after a while one day like my husband did while you are at home. Or even if your bike is parked somewhere else. You want it to be protected from possible drizzle. 3) those splashes that rain down on you when driving through pedestrian zones in the warm season. You don't want a little rain to ruin your device, but this is a solid piece. Gear. I believe that it will most likely withstand the effects of the elements, within reasonable limits of course. The sound is loud. I didn't understand if you can control the volume, but I think so, but don't quote me about that. I can't be sure at the moment. It comes with instructions in English NOT Chinese (thank goodness) but with my own unit I'm having a little trouble, not with assembling but with getting used to how all the many functions work in sequence. It will take you a while to make some pit stops to change anything on your device until you get used to it. Soon enough you'll probably be a pro. I'm not ready yet, but spring is in the air, so I think I'm going to be an expert. Make sure it's securely attached to your bike, take advantage of all the many features and functions, and enjoy your ride! What a great price even for a french horn, light and time alone, not to mention everything else! These additional features are truly luxurious features. The brightness is also much better than what I had before. I would recommend this to any avid racer! Day and night, I think you will be satisfied! So far I would give it 4.5 stars but I'll round it up to 4 just because of my few minor criticisms but if I could I would. This is an amazing product overall!
