1.5m SFP+ DAC cable works great for my use case
My home network uses mostly 1000BASE-T for desktops and AC for everything else. I needed a faster connection between my PC and my Xeon server, so I plugged used Mellanox ConnectX-3 cards into each computer and connected them directly with GW-Fiber's 1.5m DAC cable. After a small adjustment everything worked. .iperf benchmarks (average speed over 30 seconds): Gigabit Ethernet: 942 Mbit/s. SFP+ Defaults: 9.34 Gbps SFP+ Jumbo Frames: 9.58 Gbps I might get a switch one day, but I'm in no hurry. Thanks, GW Fiber!
