My parrot loved me. Now she loves to bite me.

When our gray parrot, Tinmeh, started feather plucking and developed a small infection at the base of the tail feathers, we took her to the vet for a check-up. He explained that she was probably bored because parrots in the wild spend about 90% of their time looking for food. When kept in captivity, they have a lot of free time and need to figure out what to do with themselves. Our vet wasn't entirely happy with the supposedly great parrot food we gave her, thinking maybe she wasn't thrilled. not getting enough nourishment from it. Although we also gave her fresh vegetables and fruits regularly, she probably needed a more concentrated formula. He recommended we try Lafeber Gourmet Tropical Nutri-Berries, both for the better nutrition and the little extra challenge of having to choose seeds that she really liked. We also added some toys to hide food in so she doesn't have to guess what she might find. Her infection went away and she stopped plucking her feathers and looked like a normal parrot again, not a plucked chicken. Well, maybe it wasn't that bad, but we didn't want it to get that far. We've also added two more Lafeber Nutri-Berries to add variety to their diet. All's well that ends well. If only I could convince her to love me again!
