Review on Guest 16061 Marine Battery Charger by Mark Deuschle

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good charger, but still needs a function.

I am charging five identical marine batteries on a pontoon boat in New England. I bought this to complement the Minn Kota 4 Channel Charger for the 4 battery bank used for the 48v Minn Kota E-Drive. This charges a 5th battery which powers the house electronics - running lights, sound system etc. Unlike the Minn Kota charger it lacks charge voltage temperature compensation. Translation: I can leave other batteries connected to the Minn Kota unit for the winter outside, but the 5th battery needs to be taken out for the winter and kept indoors to charge. Temperature compensation would be a great feature - even at a higher price. UPDATE - August 2018 The next lightning knocked him unconscious. I have a 4 bank Minn Kota charger next to it plugged into the same power strip which is unaffected. I just replaced it with a Minn Kota single battery charger that has temperature compensation and is about $40 less. The Minn Kota 1 bank charger was not available when I bought the Guest 16061. I'll give Guest 16061 four stars anyway - it worked well before the storm.
