WR120 and WR300 Showdown

I need to reconsider my review of this radio. I'm also attaching a video in hopes of helping people better understand the EOM (End Of Message) system. It is still an excellent All Hazards Weather Alert Radio certified public radio. However, like any radio, it has some disadvantages. The user selectable siren volume is great. However, the WR300 cannot detect premature cancellation of an alarm and often does not accurately display the alarm expiry time on the LCD screen. Because the radio does not recognize the EOM, it does not turn off when set to "Voice" so the weather/repeat button must be physically pressed for the radio to stop continuous cycling. The WR120 will turn off immediately after sending the message. With the WR120 (latest models) you no longer have to search for endless country codes. They are now pre-programmed in 120 names for easy customization. Minus WR120 - no siren volume control, no AM/FM radio. I found I had to use both radios to make up for the WR300's lack of features. Needless to say, I can't take my WR120 to Starbucks because of the insanely wailing siren. Luckily we have an outdoor siren system here in North Texas. It really depends what you are looking for.

Pros
  • Quick replacement
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
