I bought a 35 year old house and in all that time nothing has been done to prevent pipe build up . I was skeptical at first but recently I noticed that I now have more suds in the shower and laundry and I bought a new coffee maker and there is no buildup there either. Update June 22, 2019 I bought it in August 2018 so it's been less than a year and I thought it would take a lot longer before I see real results - I was wrong! Aside from getting more lather when I shower and wash, my hair is smoother. Until recently I had to use a bar of soap to get just the right amount of suds - nothing more. I was very pleasantly surprised with the lather I get from liquid soap. I had to buy a new water heater last year and was worried about how long it would last due to hard water but I have water tested it and so far so good! Also, the shower stall is now much easier to clean as there is minimal build up on the walls. I had to call a plumber and it was expensive but it was worth it! Update July 2019 - It's been almost a year and things are getting better so don't listen to reviews that say this isn't going to work because they might not have waited long enough. I get hot water sooner which means the scale is gone. The hot water tank is just opposite the bathroom but I had to wait and wait anyway. I do not know it anymore. It's not instant, but now it's only a few minutes, and it used to take a lot longer. I just can't say enough good things about it - I'm so happy with it and hope it lasts.
