I bought these because they are similar to two other sets that I really like, I only use them for artistic coloring. The stems are black, the end of the pencil indicates the color. I have found that the color indicator on several pencils does not match the base color of the lead so a color chart is required and recommended. The lead is not watercolored and does not dissolve in water as intended. I have several sets of watercolor pencils, I know how they are supposed to work, they don't even come close to dissolving, not sure why some are pointing out that this is the case. Some might assume I have a different set but that is unlikely as they are brand new. Otherwise I would say that these are pencils for school children rather than pencils for artists. The linens are light, there is a good range of colors. They fit quite well, the weights are heavier than similar ones and lack creaminess. They can also be prickly on some colors while others are fine. Not sure if it's oil or wax, but they feel hard like other budget oil pens, so there's probably more oil in the bond than wax. In general, these aren't bad pens if you're using them for coloring. I wouldn't recommend them for art as they don't have professional lightfastness tests meaning certain colors are likely to fade over time.
