New design with hole in the top to equalize the vacuum when drinking. The hole closes when the fastener is pushed to the closed, latched position. Unfortunately, it lets in too much air and makes a weird gurgling noise when you try to drink. This causes the person to drink small amounts of water and large amounts of air. We all know that "drinking" a lot of air is not ideal, as this leads to the unfortunate result of having to force that air out of the mouth, which subsequently causes a "belch" out of the nose, what I personally do not need in my life! I adjusted the straw and mouthpiece many times before deciding this lid design wasn't for me. The straw gave the water a plastic taste even after washing.
