I have been using this product for several months now and this is the only medication that works for my hyperactive dog! We tried Serenity, Solikin, and Prozac. My dog is on medication for a variety of issues, so I'm generally a firm believer in using prescription medication when appropriate. However, when my husband was on Prozac, it wasn't a good result. He was shaking and seemed even more afraid, afraid of new things that had never interested him before. For him, I wanted to try a more natural approach and it worked wonders. It definitely took a while to work, but what I like about this compound is that you don't really see it working. By that I mean that you don't see your dog as another character. I notice it now with barking. We froze our windshield and made some changes to the environment to reduce anxiety months before we started. But now that he's barking, he's not going crazy, and I can calm him down. Now not only can I calm him down, but he will really relax. This seems to make him a normal dog, which is what I wanted given his anxiety. He's not drugged and he's still the same dog I love, just not overly alert. We have tried so many other medications with my dog. I even stopped it and tried something else for a while but it didn't work. It really works and is the best, but I don't need to add anything. He just takes it as is and can be chewed. I will say when we first bought this from a store near us I was told that my dog must love it because it was peanut butter and banana flavored and he did. It didn't smell that good either. But now they must have changed something. Although the ingredients don't look different on the box, it smells a bit foul now, but my dog still takes it and eats it. It still seems to have the same effects, which makes me happy. I just want them to go back to the original for me.
