Review on 🎨 STAEDTLER 185C24JB Colored Pencil Set - 24 Piece Pack for Vibrant Artwork! by Kelsey Brown

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Comparison with Indonesian Staedtler colored pencil set 1270-C24A6:

Slightly different colors than Indonesian product 1270-C24A6. Slightly firmer, not as much pigment in comparable colors as the others, but they also don't chip off the tip as much as the Indonesian set I had. There is a pale skin tone in set 1270 of 24 that has a darker parallel in Noris' set. The dark brown of Noris is more violet than 1270, and the cobalt violet of 1270 is slightly lighter and less cloudy than Noris. The 1270 is a warmer, yellowish green than the Noris box, while the 1270 is a brighter red. However, I like the cerulean blue in the Noris set better than its counterpart in 1270. Neither set has the intense violet of Prismacolor or the true magenta of Prismacolor's red process. If I had to choose one set over another, I would choose 1270. In general, I like the color palette - for beginners with colored pencils, it's a good introduction to the medium. I would suggest adding Canary Yellow, True Blue, Process Red (actually a pure violet that produces beautiful purple tones) and Parma Violet from Prismacolor as upgrades to your kit if you decide to go with this brand. Colorless blender - not included in Staedtler sets - smooths out transitions - there are good ones on the market!

Pros
  • drawing materials
Cons
  • matte packaging
