I bought this adapter to install M.2 drives in NVMe drive bays on a Dell workstation. The adapter worked great - I had no problems getting the drive recognized by the firmware or the operating system. As you can see in the attached photo, the adapter makes the full bandwidth of the M.2 drive available (at least for the Intel 256 GB 760p shown in the screenshot). In addition, the adapter is easy to use. No tools are required to disassemble the shell and install the M.2 SSD. Everything fits and looks solid. The top is aluminum and there is a thermal pad for contact with the SSD. I've installed multiple M.2 drives in the adapter and the thermal pad is holding up well (this was one of my issues with the adapter). The bottom of the case is plastic and vented - I suspect this helps with air cooling. If I need more adapters, I'll buy these.
