Although many people like this model when they wear hearing aids, I bought it for another reason. As I'm representing others here, I'm on the verge of needing hearing aids, but I haven't given up yet. So I turn on the TV. After reading other reviews of models with headsets, I was concerned that the weight of the headset, while fairly light, would become a nuisance over time. The SET 840-S was the perfect compromise. You can pair it with your own headphones (or headphones if you prefer) and it works great. I would recommend a decent pair of headphones in the $50-$70 range over cheap headphones, although I'm sure it will work with those as well. Since it's an RF rather than IR model, you can easily hide the transmitter in a closet and easily receive in the same room. Additionally, I can now listen to my TV like an advertisement at a volume that gives me excellent clarity without disturbing others in the room. When I finally agree to wear hearing aids, the system adjusts wirelessly via an induction loop. Setup is very easy and the instructions are clear. If you want to watch TV remotely, I highly recommend this model.
