Review on SCS ETC S-7 Bluetooth Headset Motorcycle Helmet Intercom Kit: ๐ŸŽง Handsfree Calls & Music, Speakers & Headphones for Motorbike Skiing - Black by Richard Rosa

Don't even get the basics right.

I bought these sets expecting them to be an inexpensive stopgap for listening to some tunes while I commute, but they don't even seem to get the basics . Therefore they do NOT have my recommendation. My rationale below.1. First, the speakers are too thick to comfortably fit in my Icon Airmada helmet, which has dedicated communications cutouts. I tried rearranging them, but my ears pinched every time I put the helmet on. In addition to the pinching, I felt an uncomfortable pressure on my temple after about 10 minutes. I couldn't ride her. But that's not the only reason I give this review 1 star.2. Sound Quality: Outside the helmet, it sounded like the old headphones you take on a plane. Inside the helmet, one speaker was noticeably louder than the other, and I could barely hear the modern rock music I was playing to test. And then I made the painful mistake of turning the system off and on again while my helmet was still on: POWER ON CONNECTED blared into my right ear at a painful tinnitus-inducing volume. And I've tried turning it off, but there doesn't seem to be a way to lower the system volume.3. Build Quality: I wasn't expecting a Cardo or Sena, but it feels and looks very fragile. As I routed the speaker wire through the helmet fairing, I had to be careful not to pull the wire out of the speaker. I'll admit it though; The main unit and microphone at least felt decent.4. Ease of use: Assuming you actually have everything installed in your helmet and it fits; the user interface is almost impossible. Many functions require pressing 2 buttons at the same time, which I could hardly manage with my bare hand. A glove further limits the functionality. Pairing with my iPhone XS was at least quick and painless.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
