The 2DS has so many flaws I don't even know where to start. But let's start: * The control panel and buttons are soft because they use rubber caps instead of metal dome switches, so they don't "click" like previous systems. You can press the directional button a bit before movement registers, as the rubber domes have a lot of travel. This causes the panel to stop responding. The A/B/X/Y and Start/Select buttons are better in this regard, but still soft. * Buttons on the shoulder do not work when pressed from the top, they work when pressed from the side. The switch is on the sides and the hinge is on top, so you have to press down very hard to activate the switch from above. So get used to pressing the L/R buttons on the side. This is literally backwards from how every shoulder button was ever designed on other systems and controllers. * The volume knob is flush with the side of the 2DS, so it's difficult to feel its position or change its position without looking at it. * The blue LED power indicator is very bright, so if you play at night, you will be blinded by the power LED. * There is a speaker, and at least when playing 2DS games, the left and right audio channels are not mixed. That's right, you only get left channel audio from the speaker, and the right channel is completely muted. I do not know, how Nintendo even sanctioned such an oversight. I don't have a 3DS game with good enough stereo panning to determine if it affects 3DS games. but it absolutely affects 2DS games. they are hard and sharp. If you have big hands, it's extremely uncomfortable to hold.* Because the lower screen is now much lower than the buttons and control panel, you can no longer operate the touchscreen with your thumbs and keep your hands on the controls. This makes it impossible to play some games like Metroid where you tap the touchscreen to minimize. With that in mind, you REALLY need to try it before you buy it. I bought this curtain thinking it was regular Nintendo quality. Keep your hands on the controls. This makes it impossible Playing some games like Metroid where you tap the touch screen to minimize.
