I am a lawyer and have recently started working on a criminal case where the crime took place in the mid 1990's when cassettes were still in use. When I received the file, you know what? There were a ton of cassettes! Well I haven't had a tape recorder for a few years and wanted to digitize the tapes so I could listen to them on my computer. So I bought this bad boy. This is an ordinary cassette player with a radio. It's not stereo, but it's enough for my needs. So I plugged the cable into the headphone jack and into the microphone jack on my computer. I used Audacity, an open source program for creating and managing recordings on a computer, and copied the tapes that way. Worked perfectly for my needs. I didn't test the radio much, but it picked up local stations fairly well and sounded good for a mono speaker. I really expected it to be a piece of junk but I'm happy with this purchase. If you need a regular cassette player, look no further. One more thing, it has a power cord that can be stored in the battery compartment. It can also use batteries, it uses 4 D cells.
