I am a certified dog trainer and the owner of a very strong dog. I've been dreaming of a collar like this for a long time. While traditional metal buckle collars are still the most reliable collars in terms of durability, they can be inconvenient to use if you frequently put the collar on and off your dog (like me). But those quick release collars with plastic buckles are a disaster waiting for us. I had these quick release plastic buckles that would snap if a strong dog lunged at a distraction. I don't need to explain how bad those broken plastic quick release buckles can end up. So I was delighted to be offered this product at a discount in exchange for an honest review. But what's funny is that Mighty Paw will only redeem their discount offer if I leave my review within 5 days of receiving the product. Sorry Mighty Paw, but you can accurately appreciate the value of a product like this in just 5 days. What is the life expectancy after 5 days? As a certified dog trainer, I find the 5 Day Review to be an irresponsible request that suggests that Might Paw is more about marketing than an honest product review. So I spent a month actively using this product before leaving a review. As a result, I sacrificed the discount offered. So remember, those I have this on sale reviewers only tested this product for 5 days. So, all that said in my review: The metal quick-release buckle feels solid, which eliminates my concerns about broken plastic quick-release buckles. So, for the quick release metal buckle concept, I give 5 stars. Unfortunately there are two issues that keep this collar from being a 5 star product. The first problem is the unlocking mechanism. I'm 6'4", I'm quite strong and often find it difficult to undo the buckle. It takes some serious hand strength to undo the collar I received. My 5ft 2 small wife is REALLY struggling to get the buckle off and she quickly stopped using the collar because she found it very difficult to remove the buckle.The second issue concerns the back and sides of the metal buckle.It has sharp edges and rivets that may not be comfortable for a dog with sensitive skin Long haired dogs are bound to get tangled in open studs as some other reviewers have pointed out So the concept of this collar is 5 stars but the buckle needs some finishing touches to make it a 5 star product Personally I have Mighty Paw asked for a refund, let's see if they keep it up.
