Breaks too easily

The description says Rugged, Rugged. This collar is NOTHING BUT. The clasp has always been of dubious quality and a bit fiddly to open. But after only 2 months this collar has completely let me down. This collar has unexpectedly worked for me at the WORST time. My dog was defending and attacking another dog who was showing aggression and instead of giving me control of the situation, when sudden and unexpected pressure was applied, the collar came off and he fell off my dog at the WORST moment.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Detachable and detachable

I really liked this collar: the metal hardware looks great; reflective threads are clearly visible in the dark and are not noticeable during the day; It is designed not to click or ring like some collars. (I'll admit I erased the light green Might Paw branding with a rotate tool because I find it ugly.) Unfortunately, for some reason they seem to be coming off. My dog wore it for a few months when it came without a collar. Assuming it was an accident, I bought a second one (exactly the same as…

When the new one was good.

UPDATE: I had to downgrade this collar because the metal clasp did not close securely. The first time my dog fell off the collar I thought I hadn't fastened it properly. But after that there were 2 more times. At this point the clasp breaks off with little effort and I can no longer confidently use this collar on my dog. The clasp needs to be redone so it can't come loose without unlocking the tabs. First review: I really like this collar. My 65 pound German Shepherd mix broke his previous…

Mighty Paw just settled the adjustable collar and buckle debate?

As you may know, the biggest difference between dog collars is whether the connecting parts are a clasp or a buckle. There is a give and take with them. Buckles are usually stronger than buttons, which are almost always partially plastic. On the other hand, the buckles are limited by holes in the material and don't always sit properly, while the snap collar can be fine-tuned for a more snug fit. In some situations, martingale can be used as a compromise, but not everyone (including me) likes…

Great concept, needs revision

I am a certified dog trainer and the owner of a very strong dog. I've been dreaming of a collar like this for a long time. While traditional metal buckle collars are still the most reliable collars in terms of durability, they can be inconvenient to use if you frequently put the collar on and off your dog (like me). But those quick release collars with plastic buckles are a disaster waiting for us. I had these quick release plastic buckles that would snap if a strong dog lunged at a…
