Definitely full-surface window film
The picture on the left shows this product and the picture on the right shows a rain effect film. It ended up being too strong for this particular window, but worked great to block the horrific view of our canopy's roofline (photo of the small square window). You won't be able to see any of this once it's on your window. It blocks a lot of light (perfect for our sun-soaked front of house) so I'd go for something a little more see-through if you need privacy and light. Overall happy with this material and would buy more for the right application.
