Great product and customer support

I bought 6 of these mounts based on a previous review from someone who has replaced a Nutone intercom system with Echo Dots. I had a similar setup, but the old intercom speakers didn't work properly and it was expensive to replace with an updated system ($1,000+). With this mount I was able to use my existing wiring to create a much improved and advanced system! I had little electrical experience when I was doing this project, but I was able to ask a local electrician for advice. Once you know the wiring and setup of the transformer it's SUPER easy! I bought the transformer used by the previous reviewer who did this (don't forget to switch from 220v to 110v at the transformer switch if your setup is similar to mine). I numbered all of my wire connections as I removed them from the old control board and added them to the transformer for easier troubleshooting in the future. I only needed two of the three wires of the existing intercom wiring to get the system working (I used the red and blue wires and left the white unused). I connected the red wires to the DC+ transformer output and the blue wires to the DC output, so that when you connected the cables from the supplied wiring harness for assembly, a red-red connection was created (don't forget to cut off the jack). end of the wire harness that comes with the brackets). After connecting and confirming that each Echo was powered up properly, I began installing the brackets (I had to cut the drywall to fit under the old intercom panel, then soak and tape each one to secure it in place to give it a professional look). I used a 4 3/8" hole saw for recessed lights and had to widen it slightly with a drywall saw to fit the bracket. Cost of replacing existing intercoms! Installed a spring loaded access panel where the old radio and control board was , and left the new transformer in the existing case.Very happy with the system and very happy with the after-sales service!

Pros
  • We now have a dedicated Power over Ethernet (PoE) adapter for these installations. This is preferred for new builds and for homes that already have Ethernet cables connected to most rooms. See the figure if you are unfamiliar with PoE. That's great!
Cons
  • Expensive
