I haven't used this type of tape in a while and you will definitely find it easier to have a pair of scissors to get a clean edge rather than tearing it up. I've used it to pick up a Cold Steel Bushman - a smack from the end of the blade to the hilt and then another back to the ricasso - much better than bare steel. I started with paracord but it was slippery since Bushman has a tapered handle so I taped it around and I liked the feel of the tape more than the cord. Don't be fooled into thinking this isn't the same as sticking tape on - glue isn't that sticky. It's best to hold the free end until you catch it with the first twist and then you're done.
