I took a chance and ordered a DigitNow recorder to transfer some 30 year old VHS tapes to my 2012 MacBook Pro with OS X Sierra 10.12.6. My old FireWire Datavideo DAC-100 was giving me trouble and I found it on Revain's list for less than $25. I thought what the heck - I'll send it back if it doesn't work. Glad I ordered too. After ordering from Revain, the device was shipped quickly and delivered to me within 2 days. Everything was packed efficiently and in good condition by WeRecord. After the software was finally installed and configured (see the next section), I found that the DigitNow device had none of the problems that my FireWire device had. In addition to being of good quality, the audio was dubbed correctly and was easy to use. 5 stars for the performance! As mentioned, the only (minor) problem I had was with the software. The CD that came with it was useless to me as I don't have an optical drive. Luckily, the software is available on the DigitNow website, but you'll have to do some searching for it. To save others from the frustration, the internal model number of the device is BR117. You can find the software there by searching by model number or by the included Master AVCap 1.0.12 software. I've put together a few quick instructions to help people get started: Extract the .rar file (about 187MB), locate in the Mac folder and double-click the Master AVCap 1.0.12 package. to install the software. Then simply connect the USB cable to your Mac and launch the Masster AVCap app. In order to start capturing video, you first need to save some settings in the software: 1. Launch Masster AVCap, click "Record" and select "Video Settings" from the drop-down menu.2. Choose the source (Composite or S-Video) and save the settings.3. Select "Sound Settings" from the "Record" menu and set the source to "Master AVCap". Click the "Record" menu and select "Record Setting" to choose where you want to save the video files.5. Click on the "Record" menu and select "Record" to start recording the video. That's all! For the price it's not a problem. Good quality converter, durable, includes composite cables and adapters, can also be used to record audio from vinyl and cassette tapes... oh and did I mention it's really cheap? Thank you Revain and WeRecord :)
