I have always liked silicone/rubber gaskets because they are much cleaner and more leak resistant than the plumber's spatula method. However, this installation has been leaking continuously since it was installed. 1) Hand tightening of the nut is not designed for hand tightening. You'll still need a wrench to tighten everything so it's _almost_ waterproof. 2) horrible seal from bottom pane to pelvis! The problem is that the thread between the washer and nut provides a channel for flow! It looks waterproof at first glance, but after 1 day of light home use, you'll see "drip-drip-drip" at the bottom of your P-trap. No, this is not a P-trap or any other device. The plumber showed me where the leak was and it's on the threads! He even showed me the water running through the threads with his fancy camera! I had to pay for the recall and a new stock! Not worth the headache!
