Damaged by packaging

I would like to start by believing in the CMT line of tools. The quality of the product design and tools is commendable there, but this time there was a delay as I had to leave the product sets unused while waiting for the seller's response. CMT was meant to focus on its competitive bottom line, but lost focus on product reliability and building an appropriate packaging system based on the needs of the product and product users. The F100 knives slipped out of their foam slot, causing noticeable damage to both the cutter head and the next knife in the adjacent slot. . The F100 knives themselves appear to be intact, but I don't have a scope in front of me to check. I believe there are at least 4 contributing factors: 1. Poor handling, maybe not, but there was enough impact to cause multiple points of collision between steel and aluminum, steal on steal, the F106 knife took the blunt part of the damage, such as It has several misaligned edges and burrs on the blade. , and that's just a visual/tactile inspection, you don't even have to aim, that's a toast.2. Poor labeling of the packaging even though it contained finely machined parts.3. The transport package was too large, which increased the effect of movements within the package4. Poor case design by CMT, the foam on the lid could have been thicker and firmer as a quick fix, but they should reconsider the packaging layout. In this case, there is still a lot of space that you can use. The knives are too close together, which can cost a band-aid or two, and when you're stuffing that much metal and sharp edges into a case, you should at least rub the edges. In terms of the quality of the instruments and the finish of the product, the set looks well made except for one small thing. The edges in the set screw holes look like they were hand cut and there were a few burrs that were painted over so not from shipping damage. My advice, if you decide to buy, first take a good look at the knives and the cutting head.

Pros
  • Lightweight aircraft aluminum cutting head.
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
