Fantastic radio, the best in CB and radio equipment

This radio is excellent value for money. I use it as a base, not in a car or truck, so my needs may differ from yours. Here are the pros 1. It has a cool fast built in 3 beep Roger beep that can be toggled on and off. And it's not too annoying. It has a built-in adjustable echo that can be turned on and off3. It has two-way communication that can be turned on and off. In fact, this is my only radio that I can use along with a mic and mic without screeching. It is slightly smaller than the LX Cobra, not too small and not too big.5. The microphone, although tiny, suits this radio very well and locals tell me that I speak louder and clearer than any unpowered microphone I use in my other radios. Ultimately, though, I'm a heavy microphone user. Automatic signals on the SWR meter are a revolution in antenna tuning.7. On low I'm dead at about 6 watts and pep at 35, on high I'm dead at 30 and pump to 50. I get what's advertised.8. There's a Scan 9. Everything is perfectly tuned from the factory, has great reception and modulation, and no settings to change. Some nerds might find this a disadvantage, but for us more experienced radio operators who hear nothing but ether spray, it seems like a real joy. Cons (at least for me) 1. The mic, although it works surprisingly well for what it is, is very small and cheap and seems to remind me of something that would be included in a child's toy.2. The scan function must be activated with the up and down buttons on the microphone. So if you use an aftermarket mic you will lose this feature.3. Conversion to 11 meters is not for wimps, you have to be able to solder or get it done, this is not satellite radio out of the box. This is a ham radio that needs to be modified to work on the CB band if you buy it for it. The scan scans all 40 channels or none, you cannot exclude channels. You also cannot create a favorites list. So be prepared to be stuck all day on channels 5, 6 and 7 when the pass is valid. (5 and 7 bleed out of 6)5. The search is also very slow and scrolls at a snail's pace through all 40 channels6. Most functions should be accessed through the menu rather than the front panel switch, with the exception of Echo. So to toggle most features on and off or make adjustments, you'll need to be prepared to do a bit of digging, and it can get a bit unwieldy if you play around with the settings a lot to suit your environment and conversational style. Of course, these disadvantages will not matter or apply to many people. I'm a serious radio operator who speaks in a variety of conditions, both basic and mobile. Things that are important to me may not be important to you. For the price, this is exceptional value for a radio. I do not regret my purchase, this small radio replaces many of my large ones, except that I can talk on the sideband. This radio is FM and AM only. The cons I have listed are what I would like or what they will fix to make a perfect radio out of it. I use this little device to power my 500w Texas Star amp and heck has it ever driven it like a beauty. If you're buying one of these and want to know how the conversion to 11m is done, please search I made a YouTube video. My YouTube username is K174W
