I prefer a chemical peel to a physical peel (which means rubbing something on the skin to remove dead skin versus chemicals like glycolic acid for example ) I still need something and this is my way. As a kid in the 90's I was all about the St. Ives which I now know can cause microscopic skin tears and damage over time. I haven't done much research on this particular product BUT based on what I know it's not that drastic, if at all. For me, that's actually the perfect amount of peeling. I plan to do more research on the ingredients myself because I'm a skincare snob, but I'll definitely be buying this again and again. It's not harsh, but it's also not flimsy like some scrubs. With that said, I know I can handle some pretty intense exfoliation (I've used exfoliating body pads without batting an eyelid). Uniquely, adding water reduces the intensity. However, this not only dilutes the product to zero, it actually creates almost a slight foaming effect.
