I have a 14 year old (!) red-eared slider. It is approximately 11.5 x 8.5 inches. I have a 40 gallon tub (also purchased from Revain) that she lives in. I am happy to report that my turtle loves the turtle top and fits into it. It is difficult to find consumables that are suitable for a turtle of this size. When I ordered this it was difficult to estimate the length of the ramp and if it was wide enough to attach to the tub. When it arrived I saw that it was very durable but I had to change it. I took an old piece of plywood, sanded it down and attached it to the ramp with thick tape. That made it longer. I sawed off two small pieces and glued them to the plywood. I then used duct tape to tape the whole ramp/wood/small parts combination together so the turtle could climb the tree, up the ramp, and into the topper. Turtle Topper made two pieces of wood that matched the length of my turtle shell. I glued everything onto the tank and positioned it so the modified ramp was almost in line with the rim of the tank. I place artificial plants in the space in between. This way the tortoise can easily climb up the ramp and when it goes down it will be protected by artificial plants. All in all it worked. And I'm really happy that my tortoise has an absolutely dry place. I would give 5 stars but I think this product should come in two sizes, small and large so I wouldn't have to do all these extra modifications. Overall, this is a solid, well-made product. That's all I expect from a good company like Penn-Plax.
