With my rather large tortoise I found it necessary to modify the topper to allow it to climb. I first used a hacksaw to enlarge the hole by cutting off the plastic on both sides. Secondly, the ramp was too weak and wobbly for her. I originally used aquarium sealer in the slot to stabilize it and also added a perspex rod taped to the bottom of the ramp and the bottom of the platform. I have a 14 year old (!) red-eared slider. It is approximately 11.5 x 8.5 inches. I have a 40 gallon tub (also purchased from Revain) that she lives in. I am happy to report that my turtle loves the turtle top and fits into it. It is difficult to find consumables that are suitable for a turtle of this size. When I ordered this it was difficult to estimate the length of the ramp and if it was wide enough to attach to the tub. When it arrived I saw that it was very durable but I had to change it.

I've used this on 20 gallons, 55 gallons and 75 gallons (with a bit of side work) for three years and it still works. This Penn Plax product works as it should.
