Great for trying out clipless pedals!

Note: I can't speak much to longevity, as I've only had these pedals for around a month. In that time I've put about 200 miles on them.I had a pair of flats on my bike, but I've always been fairly curious about clipless pedals. However I still wanted to be able to hop on my bike to ride it down to the store without having to worry about what shoes I'm wearing. These combo pedals were a nice solution.I knew I wanted to try combo pedals, but a set of Shimano combos was 80-100. I didn't want to invest that much in something I might not like, so I decided to try these. They installed easily, I prefer the hex as opposed to needing a pedal wrench. They spin well and feel good while riding. The flat side grips well with my tennis shoes, I've had no issues with slipping. They are more narrow than most flat pedals, but also taller so they feel very stable.Clipping in and out is very easy after you adjust the tension to your liking. Once you get used to the pedals it's easy to find the correct side and clip in and I haven't had any trouble disconnecting when I need to stop. I took a star off as the finish on the clips started chipping off almost immediately, but it doesn't seem to have hurt them yet. Time will tell the longevity, but I'm very happy with these for the price. It's perfect for anyone who wants to try clipless without a big commitment or investment.--Edit-- The longevity question has been answered.and it's not very long. Roughly 2 weeks after writing this the left pedal developed a click during every rotation during normal use, along with increased resistance. I tried taking the pedals apart and repacking with grease, which helped for the next ride. Unfortunately after that the click and resistance returned. Another, more thorough cleaning/repacking had the same result. I liked clipless so I ordered a set of cheaper, non combo Shimano pedals. These hadn't totally failed on me by the time I replaced them, but I didn't want to risk getting stranded.

Pros
  • Very install friendly!!
Cons
  • They may not be suitable for long distance rides, causing fatigue and discomfort
