Review on 🚓 Uniden R1 Extreme Long Range Radar Laser Detector: 360 Degree Coverage, DSP Technology, Voice Alerts - Silver by John Pound

Good product. Costs money. I ended up buying one for my 17 year old son too, not to encourage his speed but to ensure his safety. I don't want to be stopped by the police and subjected to unnecessary brutality. YES, this is a daily concern of our black youth. In general, the device works well. It collects many activities from buildings on the side with security systems to local radars for school areas. What can be disappointing are the 4-sided streetlight timer cameras. It picks them all up and I find I mute the device somewhere around 10 times on every short ride. Different sounds can be annoying as sometimes the words "KB" fade out and sometimes the sounds change. I assume he collects different types of detectors. I don't really want to learn every sound. I just want to be notified when there are police radars. Another good thing about this device is the laser function. One day I was driving on the freeway at night and a policeman was hiding in the dark. I heard a strange noise and thought it was the radio. I looked at my Uniden and it said "laser". The soldier pointed his laser at me and luckily I wasn't going too fast but the laser stayed on me for another mile. I'm guessing the cop thought I'd speed up if I got any further. My son stated that it helped him on several occasions even though he wasn't speeding. He said it allows him to know where they are hiding, particularly in the school zones he crosses on his way to school. He got a ticket a few months ago and it was about $250 and until he gets another ticket within a year it won't go on his records and it won't affect the insurance I pay. Recently I got another laser tone. in my area but there were no police cars around. I'm wondering if anyone had a laser they were playing with and pointing it at me. It stayed on for about 10 seconds. It just seemed weird. In any case, a good device. Worth the investment.
