I have a few iPods and while I like them they don't have the battery life I need. I'm a long distance runner and a slow one. So sometimes I have training runs that last about 4 hours. So I turned to Revain to find Bluetooth headphones that could stand up to rain and sweat with longer battery life. Most of the ones I looked at had only average reviews. I also checked out the reviews through a general internet search to see what they had to say. That's when I came across AfterShokz. I was drawn to the technology that still allowed me to hear surrounding sounds. I think this is very important for every runner and one of the downsides of regular headphones. Reviews about Revain were good too. When I first used them, I had to get used to them. Depending on the volume, there can be vibrations that make them seem to fall. They have hooks that go over the ears so don't worry, but they take a little getting used to. In the end you don't even notice it. The sound comes out as if you were wearing regular headphones. They work great. The sound is like ordinary headphones, ie only average. If you're looking for surround sound in your living room, these headphones won't help you. But then again, I run. I don't need it and I don't need it. The sound is exactly what I want. The volume doesn't get super high, but high enough when I'm on the move. It's about being able to listen to music while being aware of your surroundings. Hearing ambient noise doesn't really disturb the sound. AfterShokz definitely offers a higher level of security than any in-ear headphones. This feature also comes in handy when I'm in a crowded race. I wear sunglasses (bifocal transitional lenses) even when it's dark or cloudy. This is because I need bifocals to read the GPS watch. Sunglasses can be easily and conveniently placed on the temples. So in terms of comfort, safety and sound, they're great. They also withstand sweat and rain well. The only potential issue with them is battery life. They are said to last up to 6 hours and will likely work if used for an event. The longest run I've used them on is 3:50 and had no problems. However, I didn't charge them all night after that run and they were dead the next day. So while they were running they had no night charge left. So now I charge it every night when I go for a run the next day. I'm running a marathon in November and like I said I'm slow so I'm expecting to run about 5 hours. Let's see if they do. I hope so because I love these headphones. That's why I'm giving them 5 stars now. I will update this review after the race and let you know how the battery is performing. All in all the best headphones I've ever used for running. UPDATE JUNE 2019 I've been using them for about 10 months now and I'm very satisfied. I ran a marathon in 4:49 and the battery lasted the whole time. These are hands down the best Bluetooth headphones for runners. In June of that year they stopped working. I contacted AfterShokz, filled out a short form and emailed it along with my Revain receipt. The next day they approved the refund and sent out a new pair of Trekz Air. Great service and warranty. This is another reason why these are the best headphones for runners.
