Saves you time and money. You don't have to keep switching coil packs to find out which one isn't working. Just tap something that activates it. You have a wheel to adjust the sensitivity. You place the tip on the coil packs and it lights up every time your coil pack fires. If it's unstable, you know you have a bad coil pack. super easy. Thing still works in store and we've had it here for 7 months. It's great that other mechanics bought theirs and have an extra one at home.
