Review on πŸ’¦ Platypus Big Zip Water Reservoir for Hydration Backpacks, 2-Liter: EVO with Fast Flow Valve, Clear | Ultimate Hydration Solution by Charles Julian

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best of the best - I've used them all and they are PERFECT!

Playtypus Big Zip LP Tank, 3 liters is about as perfect as a hydration system can get - and yes I've used them all. What sets it apart as a premium hydration bladder: - Durable drinking tube and bite valve: The tube is high quality and the bite valve seals perfectly until you bite into it to drink. No dripping, it just works.- Shut-off valve on bite valve: If you don't drink for a while, the bite valve also rotates to shut off the flow completely. So if for whatever reason you want to stuff a drinking straw in your pack, you don't have to worry about the gear pressing against the bite valve and letting it leak. Fantastic - Quick release at the base of the hydration bladder: when you want to remove the hydration tube to, for example, put it through a backpack's hydration hole, or immerse the bag in the stream of water you want to clean (without contaminating the tube). end of the hose), just push the button and it pops up instantly. The quick connector also closes securely when the drinking tube is pulled off - no drips or leaks! When you're ready to reattach the hydration tube, simply slide it back into place. Easy Snapping - Swivel at the bottom of the cylinder: The quick release also rotates 180 degrees up/down, allowing the hose to run along or hang from the cylinder. This is much better than a fixed attachment point as it puts less stress on the hose and therefore less wear or risk of the hose kinking and cutting off the flow of drinking water. It's nice to see how the platypus pays attention to these small details. And by hanging this bag high enough and squeezing the bite valve with your fingers, you can easily and hygienically drip water down for an impromptu shower or to fill pots, pans or dog bowls. Cleaning: This is one of the standout features of this product's already great feature set. You remove the hard plastic lid (which doubles as a handy carrying handle) and then unzip the top of the bag (similar to the Ziploc zipper on steroids). This gives you plenty of room to add water from a faucet, hose or stream, and allows you to add larger items like ice cubes or use a cleaning brush to clean the inside of your bladder if needed. . Close it, put the plastic cap back on and it's sealed - no leaks. Granted, it's not as convenient as the Geiger rig packs, which can be completely inverted and thrown in the dishwasher (the Platypus can't), but it's still the second most convenient reservoir I've used. Sturdy Clear Plastic Construction: I've always been a bit skeptical of Platypus bags compared to their more durable counterparts like the MSR Dromedary bags. However, after some time I am absolutely sure that you can trust him. Just by touching it you can tell it's a very high quality plastic and since it's clear you can see the water inside to check how much water is left (there are marks for 1, 2 and 3 litres), and making sure that there is no dirt or pollutants from standing water inside. There is also a divider welded into the center of the bag so that when you fill the chamber all the way up it has a flatter profile and doesn't "bulge out" in the center like it would otherwise. And when the camera is empty, it is obvious that this plastic weighs less (178g) than cameras from other brands (but no less durable!). If necessary, it folds / folds more compactly. As you can imagine, I was deeply impressed by the Platypus Big Zip LP Reservoir. I also love that it fits PERFECTLY in my Kelty Redwing 50 backpack. It fills the backpack's water bladder compartment and the small plastic clips on the Kelty backpack are perfectly positioned to snap onto the carry handle to prevent your bladder from sagging, when you're not carrying other gear in your backpack to hold it. Brilliant! In summary, we can say that this is as good as it gets. There are "cooler" tanks, "hard" tanks, and more "tactical" tanks. But you won't find a better bubble. It seems like every other brand of bladder on the market has a weak point: shoddy bite valve, leaking screw caps, poor quality drinking tubes prone to kinking or breaking, unnecessarily heavy materials, or worst of all, leaking tube fittings. It displays ALL the details correctly and has the added benefit of being transparent, compact and lightweight. Highly recommended!
