I was skeptical about ordering what seemed like a cheap plastic fan. There were no reviews here on Revain and it took forever to get here so I wasn't expecting much. When I took it out of the poorly packaged and unlabeled box, I realized I was right. It's a cheap plastic fan. Oh my gosh, the flimsy all white box doesn't even have a brand name on it? That's a bit confusing. When I first plugged it in, I was used to the much noisier and heavier Patton metal bladed, metal case industrial fan I bought years ago and I barely heard it, thinking it wasn't going to work properly. But then, moving away from it, I realized that it puts out almost as much air as the old one and much quieter. The higher speed of this fan is quieter than the lowest speed of the old fan and the power output seems about the same as the older fan for all speeds. Like I said, looks cheap. The plastic case looks like it's made from recycled plastic. The carrying handle flexes when I pick it up, and the two halves surrounding the blade weren't even fully connected when I took it out of the box. Putting it back together felt cheap. I needed an all black 20 inch round fan to put in my family room, controlled from above so I didn't have to bend down to turn it off every night. i know it's alright But I couldn't find a picture anywhere online showing where the switch is, but it looks like the switch is at the top of the picture in the listing, probably where the knob is. Sorry I was wrong, the switch is in the middle of the fan on the back. Not the best place to install it as far as I understand. Also, the cable is too short for me. This cord is 5 feet long and my outlet is 6 feet from where I plan to place the fan. Since I often leave it unattended, I don't use extension cords. It would also be useful to label the switch clearly. is at 1, 2, or 3 because not only is everything molded out of black plastic, but it's also too low on the back of the fan to see. To make sure it's on, you'll have to flick the switch from side to side, count the clicks, and pay attention to the fan speed. Also, the derailleur feels cheap when you turn it lock-to-lock. Even in a well-lit room, it would be hard to tell if it's running at speed 1 or not, as you can't hear the fan at the lowest speed. I have attached an image. If you zoom in on the back at the center of the fan you'll see what I mean. In general, I am satisfied with the performance. I hardly move it and as I said it's very quiet and smooth, fairly well balanced and seems stable. At $40 it was a bit pricey for such a cheap plastic fan, but so far it's working.
