Check size restrictions before ordering - here's why

Before ordering, be sure to check what size cakes and tarts you typically bake. The glass dome is 10.5 inches wide. I have a set of three Wezvix 9.5 inch stainless steel pans. I recently baked two 9.5 inch devil pies. Between the two layers of cake I placed a thick layer of rich chocolate buttercream and topped it all with dark whipped chocolate. Given that the cake stuck out slightly from the edges of the pan, with a decent layer of frosting, the finished product couldn't have been wider than 24.5cm. Putting a glass dome on top of the cake was an exercise in patience, as in the game"Surgery". I had enough space between the glass dome and the cake so that the icing just got on the glass. In other words, I will not use a stand or dome for cakes I make with 9.5 inch round cake pans. A thin layer of glaze complicates the task. Decorating it even more (with icing on the bottom or sides) means it just doesn't fit. In short, don't expect to put pies or cakes under a glass dome unless you're using a round pan that's 8 inches in diameter or smaller. An 8-inch Wilton is fine, but nine or more and you're out of luck if it actually fits under the hood. I love the acacia wood design. I don't like that the brand name (Ikuart) is the main focus on the stand. True, if a half-eaten cake is on the counter, no one will see it. But if I'm gifting this to someone, I'd rather not have the non-brand name in the middle. Because whoever I give this to will probably not recognize the brand name. Just leave it. The stand quality is good at best. It seems easy, just two parts that need to be twisted. Nothing rotates, it's a solid wooden stand. Brings a bit of southern charm to our rustic kitchen, I'll admit that much. Is it worth buying? May be. It goes with the Deep South theme of our kitchen. So I'm glad I have it to display cupcakes, cookies or other small baked goods. I have a feeling they can offer it for about ten dollars less than the current price of $52.95. Most wood-based glass dome cake stands tend to cost closer to $40. For $53 I would expect something nicer, or at least with a gift tag attached. It's not a bad deal, it would just be a plus if it could accommodate 9.5-inch brownies better.
