I lived in an awful apartment and this light was one of the only things to bring me joy. The overhead lighting was awful and garish so this became my only source of light (literally and figuratively). I am in a much happier place now (literally and figuratively) and this light still brings me so much joy. I have it in a red lampshade and it sits on my desk. I turn it on every day when I start work at 8:30 am and turn it off at 6 pm. It has not burnt out once. I accidentally left it on today from 8:30 am to 11 pm not only was it still shining, but it was not hot to the touch/could not cause a fire even though it was on way too long (the environment's karma will get me for this one). So not only does the light bulb make you feel at home, but you can rest easy knowing it won't catch on fire. We also have the other bulb (another perk of buying this.two bulbs) in the living room lamp which we always, always get compliments on. So I would say.yes.buy it.I should probably buy some backups while I am here come to think of it. But who knows.I may never need them!
