Works but will it last?

I installed this on my 2003 Buick LeSabre a few days ago. For now, the P0446 issue seems to be resolved. I couldn't find any other component or hose issues so it should be fixed. This is an easy replacement, although unless you're an elf you'll want to raise the rear of the car (at least partially). Installation tip for this car: Disconnect the control/power connector, then slide the old one to the front of the car. You may have to pull a little to free the screw head. Then remove the hose to the evaporator. Install the new one by first sliding it over the bracket, THEN reconnecting the cable and hose. Why only 3 stars? Well, this thing fell apart for me - the magnet (cylindrical part) separating from the rectangular part of the box - when I was installing it on a rusted bracket. I snapped it back on, making sure the o-ring on the valve body was seated properly and the clip was fully engaged. However, I applied a lot of force to the original bleed valve that I removed and couldn't separate it that way. (I'm sure it would have been with even more force, but not with the force I used on Dorman.) The fact that Dorman came off so easily makes me wonder how long that will last. If that one dies, next time I'll take the ACDelco/Delphi part.

Pros
  • Replacement parts
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
