I had Samyang's version of this lens for several days and did not "test" it but used it in "normal" conditions (live portraits). I'm looking at a 4k 36 inch display though. Forget the included lens hood, my copy doesn't even stop and has a lot of play. Perhaps Samyang should follow Olympus' practice and sell us a lens hood for $75. :-) The lens itself seems to be quite well made, a bit heavy and bulky even in a full frame body (Canon 5d mk ii). It's sharp wide open without the "foggy glow" and low contrast that Canon finds itself. 50 mm on 1.4 and Samyang 85 mm. My problem is focusing manually at my age. The canon viewfinder doesn't help either and I have a very low percentage of guards. However, this is an operational problem with a specific camera when taking photos. If you're using it for video in controlled situations, the stepless aperture ring and cinema-like focusing help a lot in a proper video setup. Also Image Zoom, LCDVF/Magnifier and Focus Assist (Color Contour) should eliminate this problem. Bear in mind that in 4k the FL equivalent (on the Panasonic GH4) would be 365mm if I'm not mistaken, and at 1080 the lens is still quite long at 270mm and needs a lot of stability. For photos, I'll stick with my Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro L because of the autofocus. However, I intend to keep the Samyang for video and have no reason not to believe the rave reports that it only comes with the $2000 Zeiss 135mm a $200 hood is. The Zeiss Apo Sonnar is also an MF and the Canon 135mm costs just over $1,000. They are not included in the cine versions. With Canon you need a 'smart' adapter like Metabones to control the aperture. I would recommend Samyang for video if you have such a need (telephoto). You can use it to take pictures if you have nimble fingers and better eyesight than me. Samyang's line of lenses is unmatched in terms of price. I have Samyang 85mm and 14mm and may buy other Samyang cine lenses. Of course, at 14mm it's much easier to focus manually when shooting.
