Very reliable charger. You will need an electrician to install it and they will likely need to hook up a new 40 amp circuit in your electrical box. It uses the same 240v as the dryer (if you've switched to gas and still have that dryer's electrical circuit on the panel, you can plug it in). But hey, that's the cost of a Tier 2 charger in your garage. What took about 14 hours with our charger now takes just over 3 hours. It doesn't matter if you only drive 40 miles a day and stay home with your car in the garage for 14 hours every night. But a little more and you'll want one of these babies. It is rated at 7.2kW, allowing you to take full advantage of the 6.6kW charger in your vehicle (Fiat 500e, Ford Focus, Honda Fit, Nissan LEAF). Blink is also recognized as a leader in on-the-go charging, offering tier 2 and occasionally tier 3 chargers. They offer affordable data plans that you can access with a card. Unlike some providers who charge a flat fee per charge or require a monthly membership, Blink simply charges you for the energy they deliver to your car when you charge. They're fairly common in cities (pharmacies, department stores, etc. install them), so it's pretty easy to use a $100 charge credit. In fact, a few days after purchasing this unit, Blink Support called me and made sure I had an account and had funds available. Easy. Compared to other chargers that cost several hundred euros more, this 30A charger is very affordable. And the delay timer allows you to charge overnight and pay less if you upgrade to a time-based plan with your utility. I plan to do this soon as LEAF is one of the main energy consumers in our home and the nighttime rates are half the daytime rates.
