I highly recommend these stands for 31" Sanus BF31-B1 speakers. They arrived in great condition, look great and look sturdy when assembled correctly. The assembly was easy as I first read the instructions then followed them, they very clearly warn the customer not to use power tools to assemble the stands, however the MDF material seems strong enough for its purpose just considering that you working with MDF and not solid oak. Read the instructions and take your time to get it right. I did it in about 25 minutes and didn't rush it and have no regrets. I've read the advice of other reviewers how to prep/lube each screw with a bar of soap before inserting and it absolutely worked like a charm and easy turning by hand with egg possible with a Phillips screwdriver. However, I was very careful not to overstretch any of them. I was very careful/careful and didn't turn each screw too far, maybe the last 1/8 to 1/6 turn, only after each felt tight enough in place and fully seated with the head of the screw in the preamp - drilled countersink (beveled hole), and the surfaces to be joined looked pretty tight and level. The pre-drilled holes in the pre-drilled MDF pieces for my coasters were right where they should be and lined up perfectly, making it easy to line up all the screws before carefully turning them with a Phillips head screwdriver. I never felt the need to force either of them into a fully stretched position. The final product when fully assembled looks solid enough and looks very nice. My wife is very happy with how they look on the sides of our black and chrome glass shelf TV stand with Vizio Jive plasma panel. The Sanus stands have nice clean lines and a nice semi-gloss/semi-gloss finish that complements the black/charcoal vinyl finish of my Sony Core Series SSCS5 bookshelf speakers and adjacent SACS9 subwoofer very well. One last thing: on the advice of another reviewer, I bought the QuakeHold bundle! Museum Putty by Revain as an add-on, and plan to use a small amount to better secure the base of each bookshelf speaker to the appropriate platform on each stand. This should prevent accidental bumps or bumps from squeezing the speakers too easily. Otherwise, I will protect all young children and any visiting animals from the hazards of falling or tipping that might otherwise pose from stands and speakers. Changed note (07/13/2018): I did not install any of the supplied carpet spikes on the stand. Pedestals as they stand on a hard floor. They sit fairly firmly on our floor and away from potential foot traffic, and there's little chance of someone bumping into them as they walk by.
